Decent service, minor hiccup

I gave Arbor a try for energy cost optimization. The initial setup was quick, and they did find a new plan for me, which was good. My first bill showed about a $20 reduction, which is a nice win. Delivery of the service, meaning the actual switch, happened without me noticing, which is how it should be. The one small thing was that it took a bit longer than I expected for the energy savings dashboard to update after the switch, maybe like 3-4 days. Otherwise, it's a solid service for managing utility bills without much effort.

Detailed review of Arbor

I decided to try Arbor for their autopilot energy switching after seeing my utility bill creeping up. The sign-up process was straightforward; I just linked my utility account, and they started monitoring. Within about two weeks, they notified me they'd found a better fixed rate electricity plan. The switch itself was seamless, I didn't have to do anything. I also appreciate the energy savings dashboard – it's pretty basic but gives a clear overview of my usage and the projected savings. Customer support was responsive when I had a question about how long it would take for the new rate to reflect on my bill. So far, the quality of the service seems solid, and it's definitely reduced the mental load of checking rates myself.

Easy energy switch

I signed up for Arbor last month 'cause my friend kept telling me about it. Honestly, setting up the autopilot energy switching was super easy, barely took me five minutes. They found a cheaper plan for me right away. It's nice not even thinking about it anymore, just saved me some cash.

is arbor actually free? seems too good to be true if they're saving me money automatically.

S Sofia T. 3 weeks ago
It's free for the basic service, yeah. They make their money from the providers, not from you, afaik.

The core service is definitely free for users. They get paid by the energy companies they switch you to, which is how they keep it no-cost for us. It's pretty sweet actually.

how does arbor compare to like, arcadia? thinking about trying one of them.

D Daniel Nguyen 1 month ago
Arcadia is good for green energy specifically, but Arbor focuses more on just getting you the cheapest rate overall, even if it's not always green. Depends on your priority.

I used Arcadia for a bit, they're decent for renewable stuff. Arbor felt a bit more hands-off and just focused on the bill savings, which is what I wanted. Less thinking required on my part.

so, what's the deal with the sign up bonus? do I just get like, a code or something?

B Ben 1 week ago
Nah, it's usually a referral link. Someone shares one, you sign up through it, and then after they switch you, you get a credit. I got like $25 on my first bill a few months back.

no codes in the traditional sense, just referral links. they send the bonus after your first switch, sometimes a gift card or a bill credit.

will arbor switch my energy plan without asking me first? or do I get a say?

J Josh Moore 3 weeks ago
They have an 'autopilot' mode, but I'm pretty sure you can set preferences or get alerts before they make a big change. I've always gotten notifications.

L Luke L. 3 weeks ago
You can decide. The autopilot will do it automatically, but you can also choose to review options first. I have mine set to notify me so I can double check before they do anything.

hey quick question, does arbor work in california? or just certain states?

B Brian Phillips 2 weeks ago
Yeah it works in any state that has a deregulated energy market. so a bunch of em, not just California. You can check their site for the full list.

i think it's mostly states where you can pick your own energy provider, so not everywhere. like, my cousin in Texas uses it no problem.
